TJF Metropolitan Police Districts 1980s Memorandum Print The Districts. The Stations. The Memories. Originally created as part of the TJF Police Board Game, these distinctive Metropolitan Police District memoranda quickly took on a life of their own. Designed by retired Metropolitan Police Officer and Senior Police Artist “By Boris”, each memorandum represents one of the 25 Metropolitan Police Districts of the 1980s and lists the stations that formed part of that command. The colour coding reflects the original district groupings used within the TJF game, where players compete to rise through the ranks, close police stations, sell station buildings and ultimately dismantle specialist units in a satirical race to become the most successful senior officer. What began as game artwork soon became a fascinating visual record of a Metropolitan Police service that has largely disappeared into history. From Belgravia, Bow Street and Canon Row to Croydon, Sutton and Wandsworth, the print captures over two hundred Metropolitan Police stations that many officers knew, served at, or passed through during their careers. Every district memorandum has been carefully designed in the style of the notices once found pinned to station boards, office walls and report rooms throughout London. Perfect for: • Retired Metropolitan Police officers • Serving officers and staff • Police history enthusiasts • Collectors of police memorabilia • Police clubs, bars, studies and offices • Anyone who remembers when London policing was organised by Districts rather than Boroughs Part police history, part nostalgia and part dark humour, this unique artwork celebrates an era when a simple two-letter shoulder number could tell an officer exactly where you worked, who you worked for and how much tea you drank.
