Met Police Unit – Flying Squad (The Sweeney)
If there was ever a Met unit built for drama, it was the Flying Squad.
Based across London, The Sweeney were the boys who could go from canteen to chaos in under 30 seconds, launching themselves into souped-up motors with ties flapping, notebooks forgotten, and the unmistakable attitude of men who had seen it all before breakfast.
Their job?
To arrive nonchalantly where others feared to tread, and to deal with armed blaggers (the sort of “naughty men” who thought sawn-off shotguns were a sensible business plan), usually in the middle of robbing banks, off licences, and betting shops.
This artwork captures that legendary blend of Met grit, dark humour, and old-school detective swagger, when London’s most serious criminals learned the hard way that the Flying Squad were already on the move… and probably halfway through their tea.
