A beautiful digitally painted rendition By Boris (retired Met Police Senior Police Artist).

The use of the S&W Model 36 by the Metropolitan Police reflects a period when revolvers were standard issue for many law enforcement agencies before the widespread adoption of semi-automatic pistols.

The Smith & Wesson Model 36 (or Chiefs Special) was used by the Metropolitan Police, primarily for plainclothes detectives and officers in the Diplomatic Protection Group, during the 1970s and 1980s.

The Model 36, featuring a 2-inch barrel, was standard issue for Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers. It was considered more accurate and was often used by uniformed armed officers.

The painting shows the .38 ammo, strip loader and the upgraded speed loader, this version of the model 10 is showing the standard brown wooden grips. Set against the Met old style Crest and the late Queen Elizabeth II royal cypher in the background. Each brushstroke by Boris brings out the rich history and significance of the Smith & Wesson Model 36, making it a must-have piece for any admirer of police art. Add a touch of the law enforcement legacy to your home or office with this exquisite artwork.
